A fun Quilt Along is HERE! And it is only two rounds of block making. And I am working with a beautiful collection for this quilt, so let’s enjoy some progress shall we?

So… What Is the Haven Quilt Along?

If you haven’t heard of it yet, the Haven Quilt and Stitch Along is Fat Quarter Shop’s charity quilt along, and this is their 13th year doing it! The quilt along supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The name “Haven” is all about the haven of hope, strength, and courage that Make-A-Wish gives to families… a little rest and renewal right when they need it most.

Quilting itself is already fun… but Quilting for a cause is a wonderful blessful thing. So let’s join along immediately. All of the patterns are free but you can contribute to the charity HERE> as a support for Fat Quarter Shop in their donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

It officially kicked off on Friday, July 9th, and the first pattern release is already out –

Check it out HERE>>

There are only two releases total, which means this is a very doable pace. Perfect for those of us who quilt in stolen pockets of time between everything else (hello, it’s me).

The Official Kit (For the “Just Pick For Me” Days)

Fat Quarter Shop put together a gorgeous Haven Quilt Kit featuring True Love by Lella Boutique using the True Love collection by Lella Boutique. The kithas everything coordinated and ready to go, and if you have tried any kit by Fat Quarter Shop, they usually offer plenty fo fabrics to work with.

I am not using the fabric from the kit, as I love it being different and adding in for the fun variation for the quilt along. You can see others quilting the same quilt over on Instagram HERE>

My Fabric Pick: Fieldrush by BasicGrey (Be Still My Heart)

Have you seen Fieldrush by BasicGrey for Moda?

It has this dreamy meadow-wandering feel… soft blooms, leafy textures, little playful marks scattered across the prints like treasures you’d spot on a walk through a field. Fresh florals mixed with soft geometrics. It’s calm and breezy and I’ve been petting the fabric more than cutting it, if I’m being honest.

You can see the whole Fieldrush collection here

I Used Grunge Again

For the background, I went with Grunge Basics in White. I absolutely love it. I have previously used grunge before and I just love it with any projects.

Here’s the thing about Grunge: it reads like a solid from across the room, but up close it has this texture that makes everything look richer. It goes with literally every collection I’ve ever thrown at it, and it makes even the simplest blocks look fancy.

Oh, and the best part? Grunge is on sale ALL month! If you’ve been meaning to stock up on background fabric… this is your sign. Backgrounds, bindings, borders… Grunge does it all, and a few extra yards in the stash is never, ever a mistake. Ask me how I know. 😉

Go peek at all the Grunge colours here — and good luck choosing just one. Or just pick a few!!

I am using the Alphaclippies and it makes piecing and following along the pattern so much easier! I can cut all my pieces at once, arrange them simply ready to chain piece them. I love this notion! Another game changer. And they’ve just released a pink set one too! So cute…

Will You Sew Along With Me? (Say Yes!)

Here’s all you need to do:

  1. Grab the pattern on the Haven Quilt Along page — Release 1 is already live!
  2. Pick your printed fabrics — or grab the kit.
  3. Get your background sorted — and if it’s Grunge, grab it this month while it’s on sale!
  4. Tag #havenqal on Instagram with your fabric pull and show us your blocks! seeing your picks is genuinely my favourite part of any quilt along.

I’ll be sharing my progress here and on socials as each release drops, so we can keep each other going. Deal? Deal.

Happy quilting, my friends!

Two releases is basically the gentlest quilt along pace in the world. Come sew with us…. It will be a quick and a satisfying. 💛
