Here’s an update on some of my slow stitching projects including my Home Sweet Home Cross Stitch, Chalk Talk Quilting and Grandmother Flower Garden EPP project.

Now that I have come back to cross-stitching, I am making more time to sit and enjoy a little bit of hand-stitching or cross-stitching with Audible on or a movie.

Usually, I also have my little one in my arm watching tv with me too, so my choice of tv would be all the kids move or Blippi. That’s why Audible books are on my ear while we enjoy the cozy times together. Lately, I have been enjoying the more available selections from Audible Plus Catalogue. Some great fiction  selection there too, which makes the subscription much more worth it as we can get more books a month.

There are affiliate links within this post from which I may make a commission from. Full disclosure here.

Recent Audible Listen

I just finished You Can Thank Me Later by Kelly Harms which I got from using 0 credits from Audible Plus. I love sweet stories like this, very light reading and yet fills up my heart.

Monogamous or multiple works in progress at one time, which one are you?

Some people thrive on being monogamous with their projects while I have learned that I am a lot faster and achieve more when I have choices. Rotation and choices make me excited to work on them rather than putting them aside for way too long.

So today I have a few to share with you.

A Cross Stitch finish: Home Sweet Home Cross Stitch

I will still need to fully finish the piece. I am going to check out some of the available tutorials for the finishing. I am totally new to that but looking forward to learning.

Through this project, I learned that I truly enjoy cross-stitch houses. I love houses in projects. Like the recent quilt finish, the sweet home pattern I posted earlier HERE.

Something about the shape of houses that makes it delighful to create.

Cross Stitch Pattern : Home Sweet Home

I am using the called-for DMCs, but a slightly lioghter Blue Cross Stitch fabric which I got from a local store.

It is 14-count fabric and I stitched 2 strands over 1 square.

I also love the little tress and fences in between the houses. They’re so cute.

The pattern is printed on card stock, and I had to fold it to fit in my small project bag. I regret doing so as it wears the pattern card stock.

Well, lesson learned.

Overall, I am so happy with the finish and looking forward to finishing it into a flat-fold display.

English Paper Piecing Grandmother Flower Garden

I am excited to work more on these, I am also thinking of starting another EPP project. I seem to find it much easier for me to come back to this project when I have a choice of projects to work on.

I made another diamond for the central motif of the quilt. There are only 3 more to go.

And then I have to work on the background hexagons.

So far I have 27/32 grandmother flower, 3 baby flower to be turned into grandmother flower. and 3 of 6 diamonds for the quilt.

You can get the free printable hexagons with quotes in my previous post HERE>

Let’s Talk Quilting Cross-Stitch Progress

The cross stitch pattern: Let’s Talk Quilting

Fabric for the project Bag: Flea Market Collection

Needle Minder: Tula Pink Magnet

This one is my first time working with linen. I wanted to try all the things since I have just discovered all the vast choices of fabrics and floss, not to mention all the patterns!

I am yet to get better at this, it is definitely not my best work. I have heard working on black/dark fabric makes it harder. White floss is also always a challenge.

So this project is like a whole bunch of challenges put into one.

However, I do enjoy stitching this pattern. Maybe because of the texts. I love stitching texts.

Quilting cross stitch

And maybe because it is part cross stitch, part quilting.

There was so many time I had to frog the stitches and reversed many stitches. The counting was hard. And whenever I used the stitching method, the stitches would tug and seems like it is a little off from the hole.

Anyway, I am going to continue on. I have found a good rhythm with the stab technique for this project and I do love the look of the higher count fabric.

Why my floss for this project is a bundle of mess.

Sometimes, I left my spot for a while and forgot to keep my project safely out of my little one’s reach, and she’ll have fun playing with the floss. Her best move so far is taking off all the band numbers on my DMC floss.

Now I would have to be guessing the colors.

I need to get better at prepping my floss. It is definitely not safe letting it stay in its original packaging as the band easily slips off.

I’ll chat more on the cross stitch projects haul and others in my upcoming Flosstube! Yes, that’s right I am going to start Flosstube. Hopefully, you’ll follow me there, I just love sitting with you and chatting all about stitching and quilting.

Till then, have a wonderful week ahead!
